Mavisburn is located in Auchterawe, a tiny hamlet 2 miles from Fort Augustus. The village of Fort Augustus is well known for Thomas Telford's Caledonian Canal, which passes through the village centre. The canal has 5 locks, which allows boats to get to and from Loch Ness. A museum about the history of the canal is located on the towpath. The village also has a good range of Restaurants, Public Houses and also benefits from gift shops, Post Office, food store and petrol station.
Inverness is just over 32 miles away and takes between 45 and 60 minutes to travel to and from. Fort William and Ben Nevis is 30 miles away and can take between 40 and 55 minutes to travel to and from. All travel times are dependent on traffic and weather!
